Health & Wellness
Healthy New Mexicans mean healthy communities.
By supporting health and wellness programs throughout New Mexico, and partnering with health organizations that do the same, New Mexico Community Foundation (NMCF ) is addressing basic human needs, improving quality of life and contributing to the common welfare of communities.
Our health initiatives focus on increasing equitable access to healthcare. Our efforts seek to foster quality behavioral and preventative services, address such hunger and nutrition issues as access to healthy foods, and decrease community violence. We also strive to engage the growing elderly population in our communities to help them maintain their independent way of life.
Philanthropy for Health
The prohibitive cost of health care provides NMCF with opportunities for building philanthropic partnerships that will help our most vulnerable New Mexicans through the financial strain of illness.
The Bodhi Fund, for example, is a unique resource for families of children with cancer who must seek out-of-state medical care. It’s also an inspiring example of New Mexicans caring for New Mexicans.
We also form partnerships with organizations that are increasing access to health care and creating educational opportunities to build awareness about health issues. For example, the New Mexico Community AIDS Partnership, a longtime NMCF partner, is the largest private funder of HIV/AIDS programs and services in New Mexico.
