Middle School Sites

Five New Mexico middle schools have launched Elev8 New Mexico. These middle schools share a set of characteristics making them prime candidates for Elev8 New Mexico: families in need, a diversity of students, strong school leadership, and a history of resilience. The schools include:

• Grant Middle School, Albuquerque
• Native American Community Academy, Albuquerque
• Wilson Middle School, Albuquerque
• Laguna Middle School, Pueblo of Laguna
• Gadsden Middle School, Anthony

Why Middle Schools?

Middle schools matter. During these years, students must make critical academic, social, emotional, and cognitive preparations for high school and life. It’s an exciting time of increasing independence, growing resilience, expanding opportunities and competing choices.

With the right system of supports, it’s possible to minimize the stresses students experience in these formative years. In fact, research links positive middle school transitions with academic and personal success.

Elev8 New Mexico builds a comprehensive community of support within and around each participating middle school—creating a central point of access for vital services, building students’ skills and sense of identity, and helping them succeed in school and life.
